Avlea Folk Embroidery - Talines Tulip Small Cross Stitch Embroidery Kit
The Taline’s Tulips cross stitch folk embroidery kit is inspired by an heirloom folk embroidery shared with me by Taline Voskeritchian. It’s intricate central motif features crosses, tulips, and arrows and is found in both Armenian and Greek folk embroideries in several variations. This version uses a single central motif and is a wonderful example of how folk embroidery often combines bold geometric elements with intricate backstitch and a graceful use of negative space to create an embroidery that is truly a work of art.
Kit includes:
- 30ct 100% European linen in Vanilla
- DMC 100% cotton embroidery floss
- John James size 24 needle
- full color charts and instructions
- Finished size (exclusive of hemming): 13 x 16-5/8”/32.5 x 41.7cm
- Stitch count: 194 x 254 stitch area/6992 cross stitches/11001 backstitches
for Taline's Tulips Small, Maria used 1 strand of DMC for all backstitches, but I have included enough floss for you to use 2 strands for all backstitches and you can see that effect in the photos of Taline's Tulps Large.
